What is TheraPLAY?
TheraPLAY! is a play-based group that facilitates development of play skills, language and communication, emotional regulation/sensory needs, and social skills. TheraPLAY groups are led by developmental specialists, including pediatric speech and occupational therapists.
Play groups are divided based on a child's developmental stage. This allows clinicians to foster skills from the child's current abilities and progress to the next level along with those in the group. Therapists provide therapeutic intervention with the child, which includes education and guidance to the parents on how to support sensory development, play skills and linguistic skill development for their children given their current abilities.
What To Expect From TheraPLAY!
Classes will include introduction and training of skills for language and play, child and parent play and education led by clinicians with direct training from SLP and OT in group setting. By having these therapists lead each class it allows you the opportunity to ask the OT and SLP questions you have regarding development. Throughout your experience, you will learn how to foster your child's development at home with trained skills and insight to developmentally appropriate toys based upon your child's developmental stage.
